The annual Bay-to-Bay Yacht Race is the premier sailing race on the Fraser Coast.

This 2-day race is spectacular to behold as many vessels from different categories battle it out over the 87km course from Tin Can Bay to Hervey Bay.

You will hear some people and kids on this cruise cheer on their family and friends as they sail past.

 M.V. Amaroo we'll cruise along the spectacular scenic west coast of K'gari (Fraser Island), through the magical Great Sandy Straights to meet the fleet at Garry's Anchorage, where the second day of racing will commence from.

Mark your calendars for May 3rd and 4th, 2025, and experience the excitement of this historic race while enjoying the hospitality and entertainment that the Hervey Bay Boat Club has to offer and meet some of the crews after the race for the awards presentation.

We will also see an abundance of wildlife that call these protected waters home. Keep an eye out for dolphins, turtles, dugong and maybe a dingo on the island. You will pass the sensational sandy cliffs on the island and we pass Kingfisher resort, the great sandy cliffs and keep heading south.

As the fleet navigates north to Hervey Bay we'll cruise alongside witnessing the action as crews jostle for position. With multiple categories and some truly fast single and multi-hull vessels, there's always some dramatic action!

After the action we make our way back to The Boat Club in time for lunch with a 10% discount on offer all day for food and coffee with your boarding pass.

ABOUT THE RACE:  THIS IS The 44th Hervey Bay Boat Club Bay to Bay Trailable Yacht Race 

The Annual Hervey Bay Boat Club Bay to Bay Trailable Yacht Race hosted by the Hervey Bay Sailing Club,  is a sailing event for monohull and multihull trailable yachts sailed over the Queensland Labour Day long weekend.

The race length is approximately 90km. It is a two day Category 5 (limited rescue availability in daylight hours) race for eligible monohull and multihull trailable yachts through the waters of the Tin Can Bay Inlet, the Wide Bay Harbour, the Great Sandy Straits and Hervey Bay Queensland from north of Snapper Creek Tin Can Inlet to east of the Urangan Boat Harbour Hervey Bay with an overnight stop in Garrys Anchorage between K’gari (Fraser Island) and Stewart Island.


The race is Queensland’s largest trailable yacht race and one of the three largest trailable yacht passage races in Australia.
